Ah, stereotypes. Contrary to common belief, they are very rarely rooted in facts of any kind, and are usually just the collective view of a dismissive, hurtful prejudice that the dominant group has towards a minority.

Paladins (pre 4th Edition) are a minority inside a minority (the lawful good alignment), so of course the neutrals and evils are going to be making up negative stereotypes about them in order to feel good about their own jerkish-ness. Jerks.

It doesn't help that often, the players of paladins are not really cut out to play decent people out to do the right thing for the sake of doing the right thing. Of course you're going to play a paladin wrong if you can't conceive of how an actually good person (as opposed to a stick-in-the-behind hypocrite) would act in a given situation.

I really hope the paladin is a major idiot, and his subordinates need to constantly cover for him.

but doing the right thing for the sake of doing the right thing can be acomplished far better with neutral good

I actually kinda like the idea of the paladin being a big, lovable dope.

With the previous strip in mind, I'm leaning towards over-the-top politeness.

The only thing you can say about paladins is Order Of The Stick.
