To be fair, I've never played a character with enough skill points to allocate into bluff, especially when diplomacy might be needed more.

...

But then again, I've never played skill monkey class like a rogue. Maybe I should try a rogue...

To be fair, my last 3 pathfinder characters were

1) a Witch in a world where magic was illegial so she needed to hide what she was

2) An Oracle with CHA as his only decent stat so the only skills he could do at all were Bluff, Diplomacy, Disguise and Use Magic device

3) A Lawful Evil telepath (psion) housecat who wants to conquer the world.


All of them kinda need to be able to lie to do their job

So 1, a witch in hiding, 2, a false prophet espousing prophecy and gospel to their advtanage (like priests...not all priests to be clear but I had to make a joke), and 3, my new role model?

Emperor Messa-to-Fleas Guide to world conquest.

1) Know your audience: Most two leggers are basicly walking can openers waiting to hand over tasty snacks, but some are more receptive than others and knowing what to offer them in exchange is important. Messa-to-Fleas has like a +30 Sense motive modifier by lv 5 from some Psionic feat he took as a prereq so I use it to basicly passively read pretty much everybody, Even when they aren't talking body language can give away things like their level of readiness, how skilled they are, their mood, how they get along with those around them. This is free information that one would need to be incredibly skilled in order to falsify.

2)Tell the truth: First rule of any confidence game is that it doesn't work unless your target believes you, So be forthcoming whenever you can even if the truth hurts you a little bit, but embilish things a little bit so that they're less likely to believe this truth that you initially offer them. When they check your facts, which they will since you're delivering this in a way to make the truth less believable, they'll find you to be honest and will be less likely to check the next thing you tell them.

3)Play nicely with your toys: Two Leggers are mostly disposable and interchangable but that doesn't mean you have to treat them like that all the time. If your charm or bribes or your lies or your mind powers have gained you a two legged helper, they are then YOURS and greed alone should be a sufficient motivator to want to keep them, and a happy mindslave is a mindslave that isn't making additonal will slaves to get free. Need a house burned to stop a cultists from summoning some tentacle horror? Don't make the Paladin do it, Make the paladin go scan the woods to look for more cultists, it's what he wants to do anyway. Make the Orc mercenary you charmed do it instead since the Orc will want to burn thing since before you met.

4) Information Information Information. Messa-to-Fleas has an At will power named Mindlink, it allows telepathic communication over any distance once established, and i get it as a passive rider effect on my stronger mind affecting powers. I cast this power basicly everywhere, and i use it to either talk to people, if I want them to know what i am capable of. Or to pretend to be part of their internal mental monologue (thus the need to always keep bluff maxed) to nudge their internal "conversation" towards information that could be useful. A simple "where were the traps agian?" on a guard could save hours of searching later.
