I'm with Eli. Sidequests hold the best story bits of any decent rpg, like Old World Blues. Let's be honest with ourselves, Old World Blues was the best part of New Vegas.

Sidequests also hold the best gear. See: basically every rpg ever made, with some sidequests giving you incredibly overpowered things.

They're also a great way to grind out a little extra EXP to make sure you're properly leveled for encounters to come.

... You mean that some people don't grind until they're five levels above the minimum in order to acquire enough materials and money to fully upgrade for the next quest?

I think you just described a speed run.

But speed runs are suicide! Grinding your stats and gear for every tiny advantage will always give you an edge!

Like obliterating the Skeleton King a dozen times over for some of his best Legendary loot?

It occurs to me, these two guys are pc's (after all, the girl uses emoticons) and yet they give our pc's a plot hook of their own. Maybe they took a quest to give a plot hook to another party?
