""Big Scary Spellcaster""
1st level wizard

I just sold a gem to a group of enemy soldiers for 200 gp (My employer was willing to pay 10). When they hire us to do some more work for them, I pretty much said, "Fuck you. Your country forced me to leave because I'm a wizard," and I slapped their boss across the face.

At this point, there are half a dozen crossbows trained on me. Keeping in mind that their country doesn't like magic, and would therefore be ignorant of it, I make a bluff. "I have a spell on the tip of my tongue. With one word, my coordinates will be instantly transmitted to the Imperial army (to whom I had previously tried to sell the gem), and they will be all over this place within minutes.

I walked away unscathed. (Later, I did bring the Imperial Army there to raise hell.)

"That was a +5 grounded counter carved from a single solid piece of rare peltogyne.

Not only am I keeping what you've put on the counter, but you owe me an additional ten thousand gold. You can either pay me now, or you can go with the city guards, and I can sell your remaining organs when they're done with you, bitch."

"If it's as rare, strong, and magically enhanced as you say it is, keep in mind that there's someone who can cleave it in half with one single swing of the axe standing right here."

Seriously, that's like threatening someone who killed your pet bear with his/her bare hands. :p

You do know that all shopkeepers are retired, epic level adventurers who always wear their amazing gear under their clothes.

Also, I would think he's more complaining that the material is so damned expensive. Also, grounded means lightningproof, so electric weapon won't burn it. Not that it's a super strong, it's just strongly enchanted against electricity, and made of a very rare, ornate wood.

So yeah, I would say she is pretty screwed in this scenario.
